(UMM Earns Award) 8/1

The National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) has recognized the University of Minnesota Morris with a 2018 NACUBO Award. This week the campus earned one of NACUBO’s first Excellence in Sustainability Awards at ceremonies held in Long Beach, California.

NACUBO’s annual awards honor individual and institutional excellence in higher education business and financial management. They were presented during several association events in 2018 — most recently, the NACUBO 2018 Annual Meeting.

The Excellence in Sustainability Award honors excellence and innovation in sustainability leadership areas including finance, facilities, operations, environment, community, and climate. Morris was noted for “transforming its rural area with clean energy initiatives both on campus and in its community.”

The campus is powered by 70 percent renewable energy and is home to LEED Gold buildings, two wind turbines, a compost system that takes waste from the community’s public K–12 schools, and more. Morris was honored alongside the University ofCalifornia, Los Angeles and the University of Texas at Arlington.
