(Benson Special Elections) 8/7
Benson will have two special elections on their August 14th ballot. The City of Benson Precincts I and II will hold a special election at 203 14th Street South to fill a vacancy for Council Member with a term ending the first Monday in January 2020. And the Benon Public School District will have an initiative on the ballot asking voters to authorize the school district to issue its general obligation school building bonds in an amount not to exceed $26,300,000 to provide funds for the acquisition and betterment of school sites and facilities, including the demolition and removal of the existing auditorium and junior high school facility and the construction and equipping of a new auditorium addition; the construction of security improvements to the entrances at the high school and the Northside Elementary School facilities; the construction and equipping of additional classrooms and related facilities at the high school and of additional space at the Northside Elementary School for child care and early childhood programs; and the construction and equipping of a community multi-use cafeteria and activity space and the remodeling of the school kitchen at the Northside Elementary School facility. A Yes vote will mean a property tax increase.
