Motorists can expect lane closures and delays on Highway 59, between Elbow Lake and Interstate 94, and Highway 9, between Morris and Donnelly, beginning Friday, August 24. Crews will be completing preventative maintenance sealcoat projects that will extend the life of the pavement surfaces.
The projects will begin Friday, August 24 on Highway 59, on the section of the road between Elbow Lake and I-94. The work will last approximately three days, weather permitting. Once that section is completed, crews will move to Highway 9 from Morris to Donnelly, starting as early as Monday, August 27. The work is expected to be completed by Wednesday morning, weather permitting.
A pilot car and flaggers will control traffic, and motorists should plan for alternating lane closures in the areas where crews are working. Drivers are urged to slow down and be alert for loose gravel and oil spraying in these areas. Once the sealcoat portion of the projects are complete, crews will return a couple of weeks later to paint road striping. That work will be done under traffic.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, and reminds them to slow down in the work zone and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
