University of Minnesota Morris Chancellor Michelle Behr was part of a delegation of 30 Minnesotans who recently went to Germany to study energy and sustainability initiatives. The delegation also included Vance Gullickson and Bryan Hermann of the UMM, Mike Reese of the West Central Research and Outreach Center, Morris City Council Member Kim Gullickson, and Kevin Wulf of Riverview Dairy. Behr told KMRS of the many alternative energy products going on in Germany.

The delegation met with representatives of Saerbeck, which has a sister city relationship with Morris. Behr said the State of North Rhine/Westphalia, where Saerbeck is located and which was once a thriving industrial area, will be doing away with its coal plants by the end of the year.
