GRACEVILLE – Underwood opened the 2018 football season in dominant fashion with a 42-0 rout of Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley on Thursday from Graceville.
Daxton Olson had 223 yards of total offense with four touchdowns, including a 44-yard run in the third quarter, and 56-yard scoring strike to Levi Blaskowski in the fourth. Blaskowski had three catches for 87 yards and two touchdowns.
The Rockets defense held the Wolverines to 38 yards of total offense, and allowed just one first down gained. Defensively for CGB Mason Zimmel had an interception to go with seven tackles, Sam Adelman had eight tackles with a pass breakup, and Michael Dennis tallied two sacks and six tackles.

MAPLE LAKE – Ben Clapp was 7-10 passing for 103 yard and two touchdowns, running for 94 more as Maple Lake beat Minnewaska 27-0 on Thursday.
The Lakers were held to just 173 yards of total offense while giving up 361. Ryan Amundson was 3-10 for 26 yards passing with two interceptions, Grant Jensen gained 46 yards rushing on just four carries. Zach Cargill ran for two touchdowns, Clapp threw for another.

Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 3, Montevideo 0
MORRIS – Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta dominated Montevideo in their home opener from the Tiger Centre on Thursday, 25-8, 25-14, 25-13.
While the Tigers played flawless team defense, Lexi Pew provided the offense with nine kills, Bailey Marty and Sophia Carlsen each had five. Marty tallied 18 digs, Kenzie Hockel and Riley Decker each had 12, Liz Dietz led with 12 assists. The Tigers are now 5-1 on the season and will face Benson on Tuesday.
West Central Area 3, Ashby 2
ASHBY – West Central Area rallied from two sets down to defeat Ashby in five on Thursday, 23-25, 23-25, 25-12, 25-16 and 15-11.
Kaitlyn Sanstead compiled 35 digs, Kaleigh Anderson had 18, Morgan Woodle led with 18 kills for the Knights.

Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd Invite
APPLETON – Tigers junior Noah Stewart took first place at the Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd 5k Invite from the Appleton Golf Course on Thursday.
Stewart finished with a time of 17:48, 10 seconds ahead of Lac qui Parle Valley’s Mike Kvaal, teammate Ben Hernandez took fourth place and as a team Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta finished second to Lac qui Parle Valley.
Maddie Carrington was the girls 4k runner-up with a time of 16:55, 22 seconds back of Lac qui Parle Valley’s Isabel Schirm. Meredith Carrington took sixth place, Crystal Nohl and Malory Anderson were ninth and tenth, and as a team the Tigers took second to Lac qui Parle Valley.
