The Morris City Council unanimously approved an ordinance amending the city’s zoning map to allow a parcel of land owned by Jerry’s U-Save on Highway 9 and Columbia Avenue to be re-zoned from Residential to Highway Business at this week’s Council meeting. While zoned as residential for all these years, the property has been taxed as commercial. Owner Jerry Hentges, who has operated the business for 38 years, has plans to build a new car wash and office building on the site, after its structures suffered storm damage on July 4th of this year.
City Manager Blaine Hill told KMRS that the new facility seems to be taking the concerns of neighbors into account.
Besides a decibel rating half of the old car wash, there was discussion that directed lighting will reduce can be used to minimize bother for the neighbors.
