BROWERVILLE – Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley went 3-1 at the Browerville Tournament on Saturday, taking second place, while Brandon-Evansville finished the day at 2-2.
The Wolverines earned wins over Henning (25-20, 25-20), Kerkhoven-Murdock Sunburg (25-22, 25-19), and Warroad (25-14, 21-25, 15-8), with their lone loss coming to New York Mills (21-25, 25-19).
Emma Botker led the Wolverines with 40 kills on the day, she was 29-29 serving with three aces while Jessica Moberg was 30-30 at the line with an ace and 20 kills. Mataiah Turner led the defensive charge with 32 digs and five blocks, Tylaina Issendorf had 31 digs with 40 assists, recording her 1,000th career set assist in the process. Lora Botker added 40 assists and three blocks for CGB who improved to 6-1.
The Chargers dropped their first two matches of the day to KMS (25-23, 25-23) and Verndale (25-18, 25-23), with wins coming against Browerville (25-22, 22-25, 15-12) and New York Mills (25-21, 29-27).
Bailey Schaefer led four Chargers in double figures with kills, tallying 32 on the day, Kailee Klimek had 17, Haddey Zastrow added 13, and Mikenna Pattrin chipped in with 11. Schaefer also recorded 21 digs, Klimek had 24, and Sara Jacobson led with 27. Madison Quinn had 61 set assists and the Chargers now have a record of 4-4.
WHEATON – At the Wheaton Tournament on Saturday, the Wheaton/Herman-Norcross Warriors went 2-1 on the day, dropping their first match to Park Christian (25-27, 16-25), before winning back-to-back matches against Lac qui Parle Valley (25-17, 25-11) and Sisseton (25-15, 25-17).
