WOMEN’S GOLF
UMAC Preview
BECKER, Minn. – The Minnesota Morris women’s golf team opened the 2018 season in strong fashion with a second place performance at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Preview event at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker. St. Scholastica won the team event. Minnesota Morris’s score of 410 was 10 ahead of UW-Superior for the runner-up position.
Two Cougars placed in the top 10 to aide their second place team standing. Newcomer Payton Sierra was just four shots off the lead with a score of 95, good for a tie for seventh place. Senior Meghan Foley was two shots behind Sierra with a 97, good for a tie for ninth. Kaya Quinn was the third best Cougar on the day with a score of 106, good for a tie for 13th. Rounding out the Cougars squad were Trinity Erickson (110), Brittany Lormis (112), Brynn Combs (114), and Destiny Garcia (119).
Minnesota Morris next competes Saturday and Sunday at the Cobber Invite at Wildflower Golf Club in Detroit Lakes.

MEN’S GOLF
UMAC Preview
BECKER, Minn. – The Minnesota Morris 2018 men’s golf season teed off Thursday at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Preview event at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker. St. Scholastica won the team event with a score of 303, three shots ahead of Northwestern. Minnesota Morris finished in ninth place.
Two Cougars golfers placed in the top 20 in senior Kyle Och who carded a 12th place score of 80 and newcomer Orion Collins who was two shots back of Och for an 82, good for a tie for 17th. Sophomore Trent Jerome finished with a score of 93. Jackson Lennox (154) and Jeff McEarchern (180) rounded out the Cougar squad.
Minnesota Morris is back on the course Saturday and Sunday in the Cobber Invite at Wildflower Golf Club in Detroit Lakes.
