The Morris City Council approved the preliminary 2018 tax levy for collection in 2019 at this week’s Council meeting at the Morris Senior Center. Morris City Manager Blaine Hill told KMRS that the levy figures he presented to the Council were higher than what he wanted to present, but there will be chances to reduce the levy by the time of December’s meeting for public comment.

Hill said adding to the levy was the purchase of a new fire truck for $65,000, which will be delivered in December. The renewal amounts for health care insurance rates for the City’s employees is still unknown and may impact the levy.
