The University of Minnesota Morris will hold a Dedication Weekend during Homecoming starting 3 p.m. Friday, September 21. The Edson Auditorium has been refurbished, and the improvements will be revealed during ceremonies that day. There will be a Dedication of the Morrison Performing Arts Center, of which Edson will be a part.
Also that weekend, there will be a dedication of a sculpture that honors the university’s Boarding School history at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 22. The sculpture has been worked on for much of the summer and will sit on the campus mall.
In addition, the UMM Class of 1968 will hold 50th Class Reunion activities throughout the weekend on campus.
The weekend events will also include the public launching of the UMM’s $21 million capital campaign, which is already underway. The campaign has a 4-track goal: to fund student internships and scholarships; to fund faculty research; to upgrade physical facilities; and to continue the school’s sustainability efforts with an Eco-Station on 140 acres of gifted property in Otter Tail County.
