Come celebrate the freedom to read at the Banned Books Reading 7 p.m. Monday, September 24 in the Briggs Library McGinnis Room. Every year thousands of books get challenged across the country. Some of them get banned. The event seeks to keep books available by listening to excerpts from banned and challenged books or reading from one yourself. To become a reader contact Corinne McCumber at email@example.com.
Following the reading, there will be a brief discussion on censorship. For more information on book censorship, go to the American Library Association’s Banned Books Week website.
The event is sponsored by Sigma Tau Delta and Briggs Library. The public may attend. Refreshments will be served.
