ORTONVILLE – Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta’s Noah Stewart and Maddie Carrington led a pack of eight Tigers in the top ten with their first place finishes at the Ortonville Invite cross country meet on Monday.

Stewart’s time of 15:07 was 29 seconds ahead of Milbank’s Nick Batchelor in second, and 39 seconds ahead of teammate Solomon Johnson in third.
Ben Hernandez, Bradley Rohloff, Thomas Tiernan, and Jared Boots finished 7-11 for the Tigers.

Carrington’s time 18:01 was 21 seconds better than Ortonville’s Carissa Vanderwal. Meredith Carrington took fourth while Kaylie Raths placed tenth.

Minnewaska/MACA/Benson 54, Litchfield 44

MACA/WCA 4, Yellow Medicine East 3
MADISON – The Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta/West Central Area tennis team swept doubles action and earned a 4-3 win over Yellow Medicine East on Tuesday.

Abbigail Athey and Greta Hentges duo won 6-0, 6-3 at no. 1, Hannah Wutzke and Lakia Manska 7-6, 6-4 at no. 2, and at doubles no. 3 Kassidy Girard and Ireland Winter earned a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 win.

Katelyn Wehking continues to pull out three set wins in singles action with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory.

Montevideo 3, Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 2
MONTEVIDEO – Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta dropped the last two games of a five-set loss to Montevideo on Tuesday 23-25, 25-19, 25-18, 14-25, 11-15.

The Tigers seemed to regroup after a slow start, taking a 2-1 lead before the Thunder Hawks turned up the instensity, dominating the fourth set and running away late with the fifth set due to solid hitting and stout defense.

Lex Pew led the Tigers with 14 kills and three blocks, Bailey Marty had 10 kills, and Kenzie Hockel added nine.

LaRae Kramm tallied 16 assists while Riley Decker chipped in with 20 digs.

The Tigers are now 8-5, 4-4 in West Central Conference play, the Thunder Hawks are 4-12, 3-6 in conference.

Wheaton/Herman-Norcross 3, West Central Area 0
WHEATON – Wheaton/Herman-Norcross swept conference foe West Central Area 25-12, 26-24, 25-8 to improve 10-4, 4-0 in Pheasant Conference play.

The Knights are 5-8, 2-3 in conference.

Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley 3, Ortonville 0
ORTONVILLE – Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley remains perfect in conference play with a sweep of Ortonville 25-19, 25-13, 25-12 on Tuesday.

Jessica Moberg and Emma Botker were a combined 25-25 serving with three aces. Botker added 12 kills with Lora Botker and Tylaina Issendorf each recorded 12 assists, and the Wolverines improved to 14-3 overall, 4-0 in the Pheasant Conference.

The Trojans fall to 1-5 in conference play.

Brandon-Evansville 3, Hillcrest Lutheran 0
FERGUS FALLS – Brandon-Evansville earned their fifth straight win with a sweep of Hillcrest, 25-22, 25-14, 25-21.

The Chargers were once again led by Bailey Schaefer with 12 kills and seven service aces, Madison Quinn had 24 assists and they up their record to 9-4, 5-0 in the Little Eight Conference.

The Comets are 2-10-1, 0-5 in conference action.
