ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota Morris volleyball team went a perfect 4-0 last week and two of their starters earned Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) honors for their part in the Cougars’ stellar week.
For the first time in her collegiate career Rachel Mathias earned UMAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week honors. Mathias averaged 3.25 kills/set with a .440 hitting percentage which included an 11-kill effort in a nice road win at St. Ben’s. She leads the conference with a .318 hitting percentage.
For the second time in three weeks, Layne Herrmann received UMAC Volleyball Setter of the Week accolades. She became the second Cougar in program history to surpass 3,000 career assists in Saturday’s win over Bethany Lutheran. She averaged 10.4 assists/set last week which included a 42-set, 16-dig effort against St. Ben’s.
