UMAC Championships
BECKER, Minn. – Playing in cloudy, cool conditions, the UMAC Golf Championships teed off Thursday at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker. With one round in the books, the Minnesota Morris women’s team sits in third place while the men’s team stands in eighth.

St. Scholastica leads the women’s standings with a score of 369. UW-Superior is in second at 395 with the Cougars at 402. Northland is in fourth at 424.

Payton Sierra leads the Cougars with a low round score of 94, good for a seventh place standing. Meghan Foley is in 11th place carding a 101. Brynn Combs and Kaya Quinn are both in the top 15 with scores of 103 and 104, respectively. Brittany Lormis posted a round of 113.

Freshman Orion Collins sits in a top 10 position after the first day on the men’s side after carding a 79, good for a tie for eighth place. Kyle Och is next in line for the Cougars with a tie for 18th score of 83. Also for the Cougars, Trent Jerome posted an 86, Mitch Baumann shot a 99 and Kyle Hastings carded a 107.

UW-Superior leads the men’s competition with a team score of 308, four shots ahead of Northwestern. The Cougars shot a team score of 347.

The UMAC Golf Championships continue tomorrow in Becker.
