Last year saw the highest number of fire related fatalities in Minnesota since 1995, and Morris Fire Chief Dave Dybdal reminded KMRS listeners of measures to take as we kick off Fire Prevention Week. The Morris Fire Department responds to about 75 to 110 calls per year, but many of those are emergency yet not fire related.
From 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, the Fire Department with their trucks will be at Town and Country in Morris to hand out batteries for smoke alarms. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday there will be truck rides outside the Morris Theater, with hot dogs also being served. A free movie, Sherlock Gnomes, will be shown 1 p.m. at the theater.
