Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 3, Sauk Centre 2
SAUK CENTRE – The Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta Tigers earned their biggest win of the year with a five-set victory over West Central Conference power Sauk Centre on Thursday, 25-14, 25-23, 11-25, 22-25, 15-11.

We’ve seen the Tigers push the area’s top teams to brink numerous times this season, but the issue has always been closing out a match, on Thursday they did just that after nearly losing a two-set lead.

Kenzie Hockel and Bailey Marty each recorded double-doubles for the Tigers, Hockel had 19 kills and 11 digs while Marty tallied 15 kills with 26 digs. Lexi Pew added 11 kills, Riley Decker had 35 digs, Liz Dietz and LaRae Kramm combined for 35 assists.

The Tigers are now 8-5 in conference play, 15-7 overall. The Mainstreeters drop to 11-2 in conference, 24-2 overall.

SWIMMING & DIVING

Minnewaska/MACA/Benson 64, Holdingford 36
HOLDINGFORD – Six Gators scored over 100 points for the first time this season as Minnewaska/MACA/Benson defeated Holdingfor 64-36 on Tuesday.

Jaida Hess took first individually with 164, teammate Madison Solvie was runner-up.

The Gators pulled away with the meet when they outscored Huskers in the 200 Free Relay, 100 back (1st and 2nd by Bailey Schoen and Ali Femrite) and the 400 Free Relay.

First places for the Gators included Hannah Hoffmann (200, 500 free), Lacey Entzi (200 IM), and Michele Stai (50 free).

Section 6A True Team Championships
SARTELL –¬†On Oct. 6th, the Gators swam at the Section 6A True Team Championships which is sponsored by the Minnesota Swim Coaches Association.

The Gators finished seventh, with Sartell and Sauk Centre taking first and second. They will swim at the State True Team Meet.

Top eight finishes included Lacey Entzi (6th, 100 fly), Hannah Hoffmann (6th, 500 free), Bailey Schoen (8th, 100 back), the 200 free relay team of Shannon Dougherty, Stai, Entzi, and Hoffmann took sixth, while the 400 free relay of Dougherty, Ali Femrite, Entzi, and Hoffmann placed ninth.

Sophomore Avery Jorgenson swam to personal bests in 200 IM and the 500 free. Hannah Hoffmann had season best in the 200 free (placed 11th) and lifetime best of 5:54.in the 500 Free. Bailey Schoen had a season best in the 100 back with a 1:07.

The Gators will host Perham on Senior Night Tuesday, Oct. 16th in Glenwood.
