Veterans were honored at a packed Morris Area Elementary School gymnasium yesterday for the annual Veterans Day program, which featured musical performances by the high school band and high school and elementary school choirs. Keynote speaker was Navy veteran Jeff Howe, a Chokio native who now lives in Rockville and has served as a State Representative for District 13A for the past 6 years. In an election cycle that saw Howe elected to the State Senate, Howe has learned to appreciate the messages and materials from the politicians.

UMM Chancellor Michelle Behr also spoke, noting that 15 veterans or family members of veterans were currently going to the U. And 6th grader Jaxson Lesmeister and 9th grader Hope Sperr read their winning essays about Veterans Day.
