Officer Lou Ferraro of the Saint Paul Police Department was working as a guard during Sabbath services at the Temple of Aaron Synagogue in St. Paul when news broke of the massacre at a Pittsburgh synagogue. Ferraro, who has been working security at the Jewish house of worship for six years, told the KMRS Early Morning Show that he saw the reports come over his phone as he was doing his job.

While the Temple of Aaron has had a police presence for its services for the past 20 years, the Pittsburgh congregation had no such protection.
