The only thing stopping a crazed gunman from reaching worshipers at the Temple of Aaron Synagogue in St. Paul is Officer Lou Ferraro of the Saint Paul Police Department. Ferraro has been standing guard at the Jewish house of worship for the past six years, and told the KMRS Early Morning Show that since the Pittsburgh massacre at Tree of Life Synagogue, he is being extra diligent.

Officer Ferraro noted that the Saint Paul Police Department has put a lot of resources into improved mental health counseling, but he also supported doing background checks for gun purchases that would detail a person’s mental health history and any criminal record.
