St. Paul, Minn. – The Cougars Women’s basketball team improved their record to 3-3 with a close match win over Macalester 56-50 on the road.

The Scots would score the first points of the game but the Cougars would lead after a tight first quarter by a score of 10-8. The second quarter would be more the way Morris would want it to go with the largest lead being eight, and taking a 26-20 lead into halftime.

The third quarter would bring a back and forth battle that would have the Cougars leading by as much as nine, and trailing by as much as four. Abby Van Kempen would hit a big three pointer just ten seconds into the fourth quarter to give the Cougars the lead for the remainder of the game.

Van Kempen would record the team’s first double double of the season scoring 15 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Kendra Raths would lead all scorers with 17 points.

The Cougars (3-3) will be in action again on the road as they travel to Mayville State University on Sun. Dec. 2nd tip off is set for 1pm.
