The Stevens County Sheriff’s Office has recently seen an increase in scams being reported. According to the reports, people have been receiving calls or messages from individuals claiming to be from the IRS, and advising them that they have unpaid taxes and a warrant will be issued for their arrest if payment is not made.

If someone calls and claims to be from the IRS, and you suspect the call is a scam, you can contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 or visit their website at www.irs.gov to determine if the call is legitimate.

Anyone who feels they may have fallen victim to this, or any other scam, can contact the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office at 320-208-6500 to file a report.
