At a meeting last week between Morris city officials and members of the Morris Model energy sustainability initiative, Mike Reese of the West Central Research and Outreach Center noted that all segments of society need to work together for energy conservation efforts to succeed.

Speaking after the City Council’s regular meeting at the Morris Senior Center, Reese – a member of the Morris Model team – said he wants to help all entities in Morris improve economically and environmentally. Reese presented a draft proposal of goals for the Morris Model, touching on a number of areas. Major proposed goals include producing 80 percent of the energy consumed in Stevens County by 2030; reducing energy consumption 30 percent by 2030; and no land-filling of waste generated within the county by 2025.
