Superintendent Rick Lahn.

Does a hefty state budget surplus translate to more money for local schools? Morris Schools Superintendent Rick Lahn told KMRS that it certainly doesn’t hurt the chances.

Lahn acknowledged that some have a priority for tax relief as well, but was confident that a balance will be found this legislative session. He said he would like to see an inflationary increase in the student general education formula, as salaries and materials costs continue to rise while the state has not adjusted for inflation in their funding since 2003.
