The Lac qui Parle Sheriff’s Office received a call of an unresponsive male in a motor vehicle Monday night by County Road 18 and 411th Avenue. Deputies arrived to find the man deceased. The body was transported to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. There is no suspicion of foul play, but the investigation is ongoing. The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office and the Lac qui Parle County Coroner assisted in the case.
And on Sunday night, the Lac qui Parle Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of an intoxicated male who needs to go to detox. When officers arrived, they learned physical domestic abuse had occurred. When an officer approached the man, a handgun was pulled and was pointed at the officers and on himself. After several minutes of speaking with the man, the gun was put down and the suspect taken into custody.
Arrested was Randy Scott Arneson of Montevideo for 2nd degree assault, 5th degree domestic assault and interfering with a 911 call. Assisting the Sheriff’s Office were the Dawson Police Department, Big Stone Sheriff’s Department, Swift County Sheriff’s Department, Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department, Yellow Medicine Sheriff’s Department, Minnesota State Patrol and the Montevideo Police Department.
