A new police sergeant was sworn in at this week’s Morris City Council meeting. Dimitri Ikonitski has been an officer in Louisians for a number of years. He is a naturalized citizen and was described in the meeting as a veteran of the Soviet Army, where he was a tank commander. He had contact with Morris as a young police officer in 2002 and wanted to come to a smaller, safer community to raise his family. He has a wife and three children, with a fourth on the way.
