The shutdown of the federal government is having its effect on local offices. Callers to the USDA’s Soils Lab in Morris will receive a message saying the office is on furlough due to the disruption in federal funding. They will return messages once funding is restored.
KMRS made numerous attempts throughout yesterday trying to contact the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services office in Morris, but each attempt was met with a busy signal.
The partial shutdown is also affecting the Morris Airport. The weather station there is currently out of order and repairs are delayed because it is maintained by the Federal Aviation Administration. Daily high and low statistics are compiled by an employee of the Soils Lab and so are also unavailable.
