At last night’s Morris City Council meeting, members approved a resolution adopting policies and procedures for the Small Cities Development Program Grant. The grant will allow the Housing and Redevelopment Authority in Morris to rehabilitate 15 rental homes in a targeted area of the city. HRA Director Melanie Fohl was happy with the process, and told the board the grant will result in needed improvements in the area.

In other City Council happenings, the oath of office was administered for all those re-elected in this past November’s elections to serve another term: Mayor Sheldon Giese, and Council members Jeff Miller and Brian Solvie. Miller was elected by fellow board members to serve as mayor pro tem. The Economic Development Authority also elected Miller as its president, and Solvie as its vice president.
