Several area businesses were found in violation of Minnesota Pollution Control Agency regulations in the final quarter of 2018.

The City of Dumont was levied a fine of $1,750 dollars for solid waste violations, Fridgen Excavating and Tiling, of, Farwell, $1,750 dollars for solid waste violations, and Mark Boesl, of Brandon, $1,600 dollars for subsurface sewage treatment system violations.

In its ongoing efforts to promote environmental compliance, the M.P.C.A. concluded 31 enforcement cases in 25 counties throughout Minnesota during the fourth quarter of 2018. Penalties from all 31 cases totaled just over $158,000 dollars. In all of 2018, the MPCA completed 194 cases, totaling $1,062,440 dollars.
