Morris/Benson Area 4, MayPort 3 (OT)
MORRIS – Kolby Goff knocked in a rebound with 41 seconds left in overtime to lift Morris/Benson Area past MayPort 4-3 on Saturday from the Lee Community Center.
The Storm trailed 3-1 with 6:30 remaining when intercepted a pass in the Ice Dawgs zone and along with Jack Riley assisted on Matt Tolifson’s goal to cut the deficit in half.
Less than a minute later Riley netted the equalizer on a feed from Parker Klemm to send the game into overtime.
Hunter Blume opened the scoring with a short-handed goal at 8:25 of the first, but MayPort’s Reece Groth tied it two minutes later. The Ice Dawgs tallied two goals in a dominant second period.
Had it not been for Chase Engebreston’s solid play in net, it could’ve been much worse. Engebretson kept his team close by making 44 saves in net and the Storm improved to 6-10 on the season. Brady Goff assisted on Kolby’s game-winner.
Groth had two goals and an assist for the Ice Dawgs, Kade Susie made 27 saves but they fall to 15-4-1.
