While Officer Reggie Welle took the oath last week to become the Interim Police Chief of the Morris Police Department, the official search for a permanent chief continues. Welle has thrown his hat into the pool of candidates for consideration, along with two other candidates from within the Morris Police Department, one of whom is still in a probationary period as a new hire.

Morris City Manager Blaine Hill told KMRS Community Connection that the City has a good Civil Service Commission, which is charged with the task of finding a new chief.

The search process was reopened after the top candidate from the first batch of candidates recommended by the Commission declined the offer made by the City.
