Some 40 community members gathered at Old #1 Southside in Morris yesterday to discuss ways in which the community can make its residents more resilient. A number of organization sponsored the event, which was one of two held in Morris yesterday, with one of its goals to help people overcome adverse childhood experiences. Amy Reineke of Horizon Public Health handed out some teen survey results for the County.

When asked what the community could do to improve the life of your family, participants responded with such things as increase options for day care, have more mental health providers and services for the disabled, assist middle-income kids so they can be in activities, find more affordable things for families to do, host more block parties, and build an outdoor swimming pool. Organizers hope to keep the discussions going in the coming months.
