Stevens County Engineer Todd Larson told the County’s Board of Commissioners at their meeting yesterday that the extreme weather has also been tough for road crews and equipment. Last Friday, three trucks and one motorgrader broke down, and two trucks were down yesterday morning due to drive shaft problems. Larson said the vehicles take a lot of wear and tear from pounding hard snow drifts, but he had praise for the crews.

The board approved the purchase of a $33,000 piece of equipment for the highway department at yesterday’s meeting.
