Stevens County Assessor Craig Swanson is taking the lead in getting the County to start its own Facebook page. The plan was revealed at yesterday’s meeting of the County Board of Commissioners. County Coordinator Rebecca Young said it would be a huge time undertaking and decisions would have to be made on how to properly “brand” the County. Information would also need to be centralized to keep it to one page. But Swanson noted modern realities and the prevalence of social media.
Commissioner Jeanne Ennen requested that any Facebook page be done without allowing comments and that it remain a non-political posting of county notices. It was estimated that maintaining the page could take up to an hour a day of staff time, which would mean either additional work for existing staff or a new hire.
