At this week’s meeting of the Stevens County Board of Commissioners, a presentation was made by Rob Sip, Executive Director of the Red River Watershed Management Board, also known by its abbreviated name as the Red Board. The Bois de Sioux Watershed District runs through parts of Stevens County, and is one of the Districts that make up the Red Board. Sip gave an update of the board’s strategic plans for the next decade, as well as financial information.

Sip said funding for flood hazard mitigation in the state has gone down over the past decade, and statewide bonding for this is a legislative priority for the board.
