MORRIS – The University of Minnesota Morris held a ribbon cutting and renaming ceremony on a busy Saturday on campus.

The University unveiled the new ‘Dacotah Deck’ ribbon cutting, and officially renamed the P.E. Center the ‘Cougar Sports Center’ in front of a collection of administration, coaches, current and former players, along with fans and media.

The day started with an electric high school basketball game between Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta and Hancock which packed the stands. The ribbon cutting took place to announce the partnership with Dacotah Bank for the center’s unique concourse which gives fans a birds-eye view of the action on the court.

After the Cougar women’s basketball team claimed victory over North Central, the official renaming took place with the Cougar Sports Center.

The festive afternoon ended with the Cougar men earning a Morris sweep by defeating North Central.
