Late Wednesday night, the Appleton Police Department responded to a downed power line caused by a semi at the intersection of Munsterman Street and Lhotka Avenue. Upon arrival it was discovered six power lines were down. The driver, identified as 31 year old Carlton Hogness of Fargo, was driving a 2000 Peterbilt Semi with a feed trailer attached. Police determined the boom on the feed truck was up and clipped the powerlines as it went by. The power in Appleton was out for several hours and Otter Tail Power and Agralite Power were contacted. Appleton Police were assisted by Appleton Fire, Swift County Sheriff’s Department and the Minnesota State Patrol.
