District 12A State Representative Jeff Backer accused Governor Tim Walz of pandering to extremist environmentalists in his decision this week to continue the Dayton administration’s appeal of the Public Utilities Commission’s decision to allow the Enbridge  Energy Pipeline to proceed in northern Minnesota. Backer spoke with KMRS for the Legislative Corner segment, and called Walz’s decision a “kick in the stomach” to greater Minnesota.

Backer noted that the pipeline replacement is supported by unions who supported Walz, and claimed it was better for the environment than transporting the oil by rail. The entire interview with Backer can be heard this Sunday during the 10 o’clock hour on KMRS.
