Today is Tax Day, and one issue that has taken a back seat in discussions at the State Legislature is tax conformity – bringing Minnesota’s tax laws in alignment with the recent federal tax changes. District 12A Republican State Representative Jeff Backer told KMRS that he was hoping that House Tax Chair Paul Marquart would get around to the issue earlier.

Backer’s opinion on taxes was that money does not come easy and the government doesn’t need it.

Over on the State Senate side, Republican Torrey Westrom told KMRS that tax conformity will get done, just not for this year’s filing season.

The lawmakers both spoke on yesterday’s Legislative Corner segment, which can be found in its entirety on kmrskkok.com.
