Homeowners and renters can still receive energy assistance for this year. That was the message from representatives of West Central Minnesota Community Action, who told the KMRS Community Connection that applications are being taken through May 31 for the program which started October 1.
WCMCA’s Michelle Link said that grants can range from $200 to $1400 and are sent directly to the utility and applied to a client’s account. Link said money is still available for this year and it is not too late to submit applications. Those on energy assistance may also be eligible for Crisis Funds, which can help for disconnect notices. She also noted there are programs available for seniors over 60.
