At last night’s meeting of the Morris School Board, Food Services Director Jeanine Bowman gave a presentation on all things food related for the school district. She noted that since 2017, Morris Elementary has composted 85 thousand pounds of food, equal to seven elephants. She also said 6 out of 11 employees have a food managers license. Most schools, she said, have one staffer with this certification. Asked by Board Member Kurt Wulf how to reduce food waste, Bowman suggested giving kids more time to eat.
Bowman’s services are shared with the Benson School District, and the Council also approved an extension of that contractual arrangement at last night’s meeting.
