Ashby 6, West Central Area 0
BARRETT – Carson Spangler’s two-run single with two outs in the fourth broke a scoreless tie, and sparked Ashby’s offense in a 6-0 defeat of West Central Area.
Noah Johnson followed with an RBI hit to score Spangler, and the Arrows added insurance runs in the fifth and seventh.
Hunter Norby and Torin Olson combined on the shutout for the Arrows. Norby went 2-4 at the plate, and Dakota Ecker added an RBI, two runs, and stole three bases as Ashby improved to 2-1.
Grant Beuckens tossed three no-hit innings before it all unraveled in the fourth, taking the loss after tossing 3.2 innings, allowing three runs on three hits, and striking out eight. The Knights are 2-3.
Ortonville 5, Hancock 4
ORTONVILLE – Ortonville rallied to score three runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh for a 5-4 comeback victory over Hancock.
Tyson Powell earned the win, while Preston Rohloff suffered the loss.
Melrose 10, Minnewaska 6
GLENWOOD – Five Dutchmen had multi-hit games and Melrose held off Minnewaska for a 10-6 win in game one of a doubleheader at Marthaler Field.
The Lakers gave up seven unearned runs on six errors, with starter Jared Freese taking the tough-luck loss, allowing one earned over five innings. Ryan Amundson was 2-3 with two RBI’s and a run for the Lakers.
Reegan Nelson gave up two unearned runs over 5.2 innings for the win.
Minnewaska 10, Melrose 5
GLENWOOD – Grant Jensen was 2-3 with three RBI’s and a run to lead Minnewaska to a 10-5 win in game two, salvaging a split.
Clay Blair added two hits and two RBI’s, Luke Barkheim picked up the win, pitching 6.2 innings, giving up two runs on five hits as the Lakers improve to 5-1.
Montevideo 5, BOLD 3
Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 19, Benson 1
BENSON – Liz Dietz collected six RBI’s at the plate, and earned the win in the circle for Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta in a 19-1 dismantling of Benson.
Dietz hit home run to highlight the Tigers 12-run fourth inning. She also tossed three innings, allowing an unearned run on three hits.
Riley Decker drove in four on two hits and scored a run, LaRae Kramm was 3-3 with an RBI and three runs as the Tigers improve to 5-0.
Marissa Connelly knocked in the lone Braves run as they fall to 0-4.
Upsala 3, Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley 2
UPSALA – Upsala took advantage of three Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley errors to score three unearned runs in a 3-2 win on Thursday.
Jessica Moberg took the loss despite holding the Cardinals to just one hit over six innings. Hayley Ward went 2-2 with a run, Mataiah Turner and Emma Botker each had an RBI.

ORTONVILLE – Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta girls took second, while the boys finished third at the Ortonville Invite in golf on Wednesday.
Hannah Zimmel fired an 85 which was good for fourth individually, seven shots behind medalist Rachel Halvorson of Lac qui Parle Valley. As a team the Tigers scored a 389, tied with Sisseton for second, behind Lac qui Parle Valley.
The Tiger boys were led by Dalton Koehler who shot an 85, as a team the Tigers fired a 349, trailing Minnewaska and Lac qui Parle Valley.
