Proctor 13, Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 0 (6 Inn)
MORRIS – Proctor exploded out of the gates with six runs on six hits in the first inning, and rolled to a 13-0 win over Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta in the championship game of the Morris Softball Tournament on Saturday.
Emma Bowman had two of the Tigers five hits, their best scoring chance came in the third when they had the bases loaded with one out, but Jen Solvie hit into a 1-2-3 doubled play to end the threat.
Liz Dietz suffered her first loss, allowing six runs (three earned) on eight hits, and the Tigers fell to 9-1 on the season.
Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 7, Valley City 3
MORRIS – Liz Dietz tossed a complete game for the win, and the Tigers racked up 11 hits in a 7-3 win over Valley City in pool play.
Riley Decker went 3-3 with a double, two RBI’s and run scored to lead the charge. Dietz doubled and drove in three runs, Jen Solvie had two RBI’s, and Kenzie Hockel went 2-4.
Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 11, St. Cloud Apollo 3
MORRIS – The Tigers opened the game with a four-run first inning, and put it away by adding five in the fourth for an 11-3 win over St. Could Apollo to open tourney play.
Kenzie Hockel launched a two-run home run and finished 2-2 with three RBI’s, LaRae Kramm was 2-2 with an RBI and run scored, Liz Dietz earned the win with four shutout innings in the circle.
Proctor 17, Wheaton/Herman-Norcross 0 (4 Inn)
Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 11, Hancock 2
MORRIS – Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta won their third straight Morris Baseball Tournament with a dominant 11-2 win over Hancock, getting help from Pelican Rapids who beat Silver Bay 5-4 in extra innings.
The Tigers and Owls each went 2-1 in tourney play, but the Tigers took first with the head-to-head victory. Pelican Rapids and Silver Bay each went 1-2.
