BRAINERD – The Minnewaska girls golf took first place at the Brainerd Classic on Wednesday with a score of 328, 17 shots better than runner-up Detroit Lakes. Morris Area Chokio-Alberta finished 13th with a 418.
The Lakers had three girls finish in the top five, including Madi McGinty who shared medalist honors with Detroit Lakes Anna Cihak with each firing a 78.
Jacqueline Gossen and Emily Harste finished 4-5. Hannah Zimmel was the top Tigers golfer, taking 21st with a 93. Peyton Hennen took 40th place with a 101.

West Central Conference Meet @ Benson/Montevideo
MONTEVIDEO – The West Central Conference regular season in girls golf came to an end on Thursday with a conference meet from Montevideo and Benson.
In Montevideo Minnewaska took first with a four stroke win over BOLD at 165, although the Warriors Mikayla Snow was the top individual golfer with a 38, the Lakers Emily Harste was one shot back for second. Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta teammates Hannah Zimmel and Mackenzie Stahman tied for 12th with 46s, the Tigers were third as a team.

BENSON – The teams then traveled to Benson where the Lakers again took first, led by medalist Madi McGinty who fired a 35 for a two shot victory. BOLD, Benson/KMS, and Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta were 2-4.
Zimmel took ninth for the Tigers with a 43, one shot behind the Braves Stacy Johnson.

With the conclusion of the conference season, the Lakers Madi McGinty wrapped up the individual championship with season average of 37.5, less then a stroke ahead of teammate Jacqueline Gossen.
The Lakers had seven of 13 all-conference golfers, Hannah Zimmel was the lone Tiger to earn all-conference honors by placing seventh with an average score of 43.

West Central Conference Meet
BENSON – Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta fired a 271 and took first in Benson, with Benson and BOLD tying for second three shots back.
Brady Loge carded the Tigers low score with a 41, good for third and four shots off the lead, held by ACGC’s Brennan Arndt.

MONTEVIDEO – Minnewaska took first when the teams traveled to Montevideo for another round, the Tigers were fourth with a 179, 13 shots back of the Lakers.
Eli Grove shot a 44, Brock Peterson a 45 for the Tigers, Montevideo’s Seth Olson took first with a 36.

Minnewaska and Melrose finish in a tie for the conference crown, while the Tigers and Thunder Hawks tied for third.


Montevideo 3, Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 2
MONTEVIDEO – A seventh inning push by Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta came up short in a 3-2 loss to Montevideo.
Zach Bruns was 2-4 with a double, triple, RBI and run scored, Jaret Johnson knocked in a run, Cade Fehr and Kevin Asfeld each had two hits. Bruns took the loss after tossing a complete game.

West Central Area 5, Hancock 0
HANCOCK – Teigen Mortiz scattered four hits over 6.2 scoreless innings to lead West Central Area past Hancock 5-0 on Thursday from Hancock.
The Knights led 1-0 before pulling away with four in the seventh. Moritz struck out seven and earned the win, adding a two-run double at the plate. Grant Beuckens had two hits with double and scored twice, Tanner Bennett and Colten Lindquist each had an RBI for the Knights.
Preston Rohloff kept the Owls close throughout, pitching 6.1 innings, allowing two runs on three hits with 10 strikeouts. Tanner Pahl had two doubles, but the big hit eluded the Owls all night, stranding eight on base.

Minnewaska 2, Benson 1
BENSON – Darion Alexander tossed a complete game one hitter in Minnewaska’s 2-1 win over Benson.
Alexander gave up an unearned run while striking out six for the win. Ryan Amundson had two hits and an RBI.
Matt Tolifson took the loss, giving up two runs on five hits over five innings, he had the Braves lone RBI at the plate.

Brandon-Evansville 9, Parkers Prairie 5
EVANSVILLE – Tanner Bitzan’s bases clearing double gave Brandon-Evansville the lead, and they never gave it up in a 9-5 win over Parkers Prairie.
Travis Yhonke opened the scoring with a two-run home run in the first for the Panthers, but Bitzan’s double scored three and put the Chargers up 4-2. Marshall Riedel got the win, giving up three runs over five innings.

Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 4, Minnewaska 2
MORRIS – Liz Dietz went 2-3 with three RBI’s and earned the win in the circle to help Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta move to 13-0 in the West Central Conference with a 4-2 defeat of Minnewaska from Eagles Park.
Dietz came on in relief of Kenna Kehoe, giving up an unearned run on three hits with eight strikeouts over five innings.
Bailey Marty was 2-3 with an RBI and run, Emma Bowman added two hits. Kyla Koob took the loss for the Lakers, Michele Stai had two hits with an RBI.

Hancock 17, Ortonville 7 (6 Inn)
HANCOCK – Rylee Hanson picked up six RBI’s with a pair of two-run home runs and a two-run double in Hancock’s 17-7 victory over Ortonville.
Carlee Hanson had a two-run home run and earned the win in the circle, Nadine Miller went 4-5 with a double and three RBI’s
Alexa Mierding, Tori Pahl, and Haley Mattson each had two hits with seven combined runs for the Owls who had 16 hits as a team. Jaidon Conroy hit a solo home run for the Trojans but suffered the loss.

Dawson-Boyd 7, Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley 6
DAWSON – Dawson-Boyd edged Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley in a back-and-forth ballgame for a 7-6 win on Tuesday.
Jessica Moberg was 3-3 with a double, triple, and run scored for the Wolverines, Lora Botker had two RBI’s, Emma Wulf took the loss in relief of Moberg.
