Through a Preschool Development Grant, the Minnesota Departments of Education, Health and Human Services are seeking input from parents of young children by being part of one of two focus groups in Morris. The conversations for expectant parents and those with children 5 years or younger hope to touch on stories of successful programs and services available for families with young children, any limits and challenges of programs or services for families, and possible ideas for solutions to deal with the challenges.

Stevens County Early Childhood Initiative Coordinator Diane Strobel told KMRS that this is a rare chance for area residents to offer guidance to State agencies.

Focus Groups are hosted by the Stevens County Early Childhood Initiative. The first one will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, June 3 at Faith Lutheran Church, 108 West 8th Street in Morris. It is free to attend and lunch will be provided at 11:30 a.m.

The second session will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. that same Monday at Morris Area Elementary, 151 South Columbia Avenue in Morris. It is also free to attend and supper will be provided starting at 5:45 p.m. Free child care is available for both sessions by contacting Diane Strobel at 320-585-2237.
