Leona Paulson, age 98 of Hoffman, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at the Barrett Care Center.
Visitation will be Monday, June 17, 2019, one hour prior the service.
Funeral service for Leona G. Paulson will be Monday, June 17, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. at Erickson-Smith Funeral Home, Hoffman with Rev. Mark Mathews officiating.
Inurnment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Spearfish, South Dakota.
Leona (Rabidue) Paulson was born December 23, 1920, to Gertrude Gable and Gene Rabidue in South Dakota. Leona’s mother remarried Ben Wellfering when Leona was a young child and they lived in Newell and Spearfish, SD.
In 1940, Leona was united in marriage to Royce Paulson in Bottineau, ND. To this union three children were born, Ralph, LeRoy, and Darel. Royce worked for the Soo Line Railroad in Balta, ND, and Hoffman, MN, in 1964, where Leona worked for the Hoffman Nursing Home; and lastly Rosholt, SD. In 1979, they retired to a home at Strawberry Lake, MN. Royce passed away in 1983. Leona set up home near Hoffman in 1990, and the Barrett Care Nursing Home in 2002.
Leona was a kind, loving wife and mother, and family was very important to her. She was an avid gardener and loved watching and tending to her flowers and vegetables. She was an excellent cook and hosted many large family get-togethers throughout her married years and beyond.
She is survived by her sons: Ralph (Renae) Paulson of Willits, CA, LeRoy Paulson of Hoffman, MN, and Darel (Jody) Paulson of Perley, MN; grandchildren: Lisa Paulson, Dusty Paulson, Jesse Paulson and Michael Paulson; along with many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Leona was proceeded in death by her mother, father, brothers, her sister Marjorie, and her husband Royce.
