State Tournament
JORDAN – Minnewaska/BBE girls golfers held an eight-shot lead going into the back nine, but Red Wing rallied to take the class 2A state title by one shot on Wednesday from Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan.

The Blue Jackets shot a 334 in round two while the Wingers fired a 327. Individually the Wingers Sophia Yoemans is the state champion with a six-under 138, seven shots ahead of runner-up and teammate Leah Herzog.

Madi McGinty took seventh for the Jackets with a 157, Emily Harste and Jacqueline Gossen tied for 10th. Benson’s Allissa Mauer finished 24th.

In class A, West Central Area sophomore Jessica St. Martin fired a 96 in round two for a 2-day total of 191, good for 29th place.

LQPV junior Rachel Halvorson won the state title by one stroke with a 160. BOLD won the team title by a shot over Park Christian with Mikayla Snow and Ashley Trongard finishing 6-7 individually. Chanhassen ran away with the girls 3A title, Simley’s Isabella McCauley is the individual champ.

In boys golf the Class A champs are Community Christian, with CC’s Brett Reid taking the individual crown. Holy Family Catholic took the 2A title, Red Wing’s Cecil Belisle is the individual champ, and Edina won the 3A title with Stillwater’s Brock Winter the individual champ.
