Delbert D. Buller, age 86 of Cyrus, Minnesota, passed away Monday, June 18, 2019, at the West Wind Village Care Center in Morris.
Visitation for Delbert Buller will be at Lake Haven Mennonite Church in rural Starbuck, MN, Thursday, June 20, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will continue one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Funeral services for Delbert Dean Buller will be held on Friday, June 21, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lake Haven Mennonite Church in rural Starbuck, MN. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Delbert Dean, the oldest son of Menno J and Edna Schroeder Buller was born on October 18, 1932, at Manter, KS. Delbert’s childhood years were spent in Kansas, Southern Alabama, and later in Winton, CA, where he received his schooling. During his teenage years he worked on farms in Eastern Colorado and Western Kansas.
As a young teenager, Delbert realized his lost condition and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. He was baptized by Min. Frank H. Wenger on February 5, 1945, becoming a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite at Livingston, California. This faith was precious to him. Although life was not always easy, he was faithful to the end.
In 1952, Delbert met Velma Jean Koehn, his future companion, in Scott City, KS. Married on June 22, 1952, at the Lone Tree Mennonite Church, in Galva, KS, by Minister Ervin Nightengale. Lived in Scott City, KS, for several years in early married life. Later he worked in Newton, KS at a trailer factory. In 1963, he pursued his dream of farming and moved to Almena, WI, spent 24 years and raised five children.In 1987, after the farm sold, moved to Kidron, OH, where he worked for Troyer’s Home Pantry delivering baked goods. He enjoyed interacting with the customers he learned to know along his daily routes.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife: Velma; his children: Diana (Harvey)Lehman of Dalton, OH, Harlan (Elvira) Buller of Murtaugh, ID, Carl (Jan) Bullar of Scotia, NE, Ron (Cindy) Buller of Ward, SD, Marcia (Leonard) Zimmerman of Morris, MN; 22 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; two brothers: Don (Kathryn) Buller of Stover, MO, Floyd (Pat) Buller of Amarillo, TX; one sister: Wilda (Sid) Nightengale of Atwater, CA; Sisters in-law: Gloria Buller of Egypt, MS, Marilyn (Howard) Martin of Okolona, MS, Maryellyn (Archie) Stenzel of Marion, KS; brothers in-law: Verlin (Velma) Koehn of Almena, WI, Maynard (Ruth) Koehn of Inman, KS;
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, one sister and one great grandson.
