Josh’s Journey, an Italian dinner and silent auction fundriaser for Josh Giese, will be held from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Morris American Legion. On February 4th, 2019, Giese went in for a chiropractic adjustment and suffered a spinal injury to his C5/C6 disc. Within 24 hours, he was paralyzed from his chest down. This benefit is to raise funds for his medical bills, needed adaptive equipment, home modifications and future transportation needs.
Josh is the son of Sheldon Giese and Mary Greiner. He is a MAHS grad and a veteran with one tour in Iraq. Giese also has two boys, Patrick, age 9, and Shane, age 7. He works for Optum Health doing telephone support. Sheldon Giese told the KMRS Community Connection that Josh plans to be at the event. He said they secured a special adaptive van this week and Josh is looking forward to meeting community members.
Both the silent auction and the free will donation run from 4 to 7. The meal will feature lasagne, chicken chipotle penne and rosemary chicken linguine. There will also be 50/50 drawings and wristbands, as well as T-shirts for sale. Donations can also be sent to P.O. Box 385 in Morris, 56267.
