Ensemble Intersection, west central Minnesota’s newest vocal ensemble, debuts this weekend with concerts at the University of Minnesota Morris and in Willmar. Founder and Artistic Director Bradley Miller, director of choral activities at the University of Minnesota Morris, told the KMRS Community Connection that he wanted to unite elite professional singers with skilled student and volunteer singers.
“Our region has lots of wonderful community choirs, but none are quite like Ensemble Intersection in that they have these contract artists that come in,” said Miller. “I think that that really is going to elevate our level of performance, and offer our volunteers and our students an outlet to perform at that professional level.”
Ensemble Intersection will present I Am Music 7:30 p.m. Friday in the University of Minnesota Morris’ Humanities Fine Arts Recital Hall, and 3 p.m. Sunday at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar.(1101 Willmar Avenue SW). The 70 minute program with one intermission will feature works by Alice Parker, Samuel Barber and Dominick Argento, among others. No tickets are required, but a $10 donation to Vinje Lutheran Church is suggested for Sunday.
