Morris 2, Wheaton 0
MORRIS – Cade Fehr tossed a complete game shutout and Morris won the West Pod championship of the District 7 legion baseball tournament with a 2-0 victory over Wheaton on Sunday from Chizek Field.
Fehr limited the Bandits to just two hits, and the 29ers broke a scoreless tie when Kevin Asfield delivered a two-out RBI single to score Austin Berlinger in the fifth.
Morris added an insurance run on Joe Kleinwolterink’s RBI knock in the sixth. With the win Morris advances to the District 7 Final Four at Marthaler Field this weekend.
Isaac Haanen gave up two runs on seven hits for Wheaton and took the loss.

Wheaton 12, Morris 2
MORRIS – Wheaton scored seven runs in the fifth inning to break the game wide open, and forced a decisive game two with a 12-2 victory over Morris.
Nate Moberg and Matt Thielen each had two RBI’s for the Bandits, Spencer Ellison added two hits with an RBI. Ellison earned the victory on the hill, allowing two unearned runs on two hits over six innings.
Wheaton jumped out to a 4-0 lead, Morris got two runs back in the third but the Bandits pulled away in the fifth, thanks in large part to seven walks issued by Morris pitching.
Jaret Johnson had a double and run scored for the 29ers, Colten Scheldorf had an RBI.

Saturday Games

Benson 5, Hancock 4
MORRIS – Sam Lenarz scored the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh and Benson held on to defeat Hancock 5-4 in an elimination on Saturday from Chizek Field.
Matt Goossen went 3-3 with an RBI, Patrick Minnchow had two hits and scored twice, Will Enderson added two hits with an RBI.
Goossen stuck out seven over five innings and took a no-decision, Isaac Minnchow picked up the win.
Adam Shaw almost single-handedly kept Hancock in the game by going 4-4 with two doubles, an RBI, and two runs. Preston Rohloff tossed five innings and struck out six, Peyton Rohloff took the loss in relief.

Morris 7, Wheaton 5
MORRIS – Jordan Leuthardt pitched out of a jame by stranding two runners in scoring position and Morris hung on to beat Wheaton 7-5 on Saturday.
The 29ers led 7-2 before the Bandits rallied with two runs in the sixth and another in the seventh, but left the potential game-tying run at second base, and the winning run at first.
Austin Berlinger earned the win by striking out 10 over six innings of work, Zach Bruns went 3-4 with an RBI and three runs, Jaret Johnson doubled and finished with two hits, two RBI’s, and a run. Kevin Asfield added two hits and run, Jack Riley drove in two runs.
Jakob Adelman picked up three RBI’s for the Bandits, Hunter Johnson added one and Matt Thielen finished with two hits and two runs scored.┬áSam Adelman took the loss on the hill.

Wheaton 13, Benson 3 (5 Inn)
MORRIS – Wheaton scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth to put the 10-run-rule effect into play for a 13-3 victory over Benson on Saturday.
Matt Thielen led five Bandits with RBI’s by driving in two and scoring three runs. Nate Moberg, Jakob Adelman, Nelson Schmidt, and James Conroy each knocked in a run.
Nate Moberg picked up the win in relief, tossing three innings.
Benson scored all their runs in the fourth inning, Will Enderson, Sam Lenarz, and Alex Wrobleski each had an RBI, Cole Hedman took the loss.
